What is a stencil?

Stencils are arrangement breakdowns based off of popular songs, built for Ableton Live. Every instrument in the song is mapped to where it goes along the timeline but they have no sounds or processing so you get to fill them in yourself. Learn from them. Break them. Fill them out with your own sounds.

Full arrangement map

Every element the record needs, mapped across the timeline. Automation notes are written into the clips, so you see the decisions, not just the layout.

Vocal map

Every vocal section marked across the timeline.

Fully organized session

Mapped, color coded and labeled. Open it and start.

Key mapped frequency check

Isolate lows, mids, highs, mono and sides while you work.

Two reference channels

Load two tracks and switch between them without opening a window.

Patterns you can reuse

Learn the patterns the pros use, then take them into the next track.

No sounds. No samples. No presets. Just the structure.

How it works

01

Open your stencil

A pro level structure pulled from a released record.

02

Load a reference

Drop it into one of the two keymapped lanes.

03

Drag your sounds in

Every part is marked, so you know where each one goes.

04

Program your MIDI

Write your parts into clearly defined sections.

05

Add your vocal

Follow the vocal map, or chop your own against it.

More tracks finished means more reps. More reps means better records, faster.

Why fifty beats one

Fifty stencils is fifty different starting points for inspiration. You sit down to a new challenge every day, you start making decisions faster, and the days stay fresh.

A new challenge every day

Fifty starting points means you are never opening the same session twice. Pick one and the day already has a shape.

Decisions get faster

The path of decisions is already laid out and straightforward, so you are not spending the session working out what goes where.

Bandwidth for the real decisions

Organized enough that your head stays on the chords, the melody, the drums, the vocals and how they all work together.
